I think they do want Tifa to sound more perceptive. They also changed this line "Cloud would never ignore Marlene." into "Cloud never ignored Marlene.". My another impression was that they made Cloud sound more confident about his new life.

I agree with Syn. It emphasizes how close both of them are in that scene. Seeing another person in your room while you're sleeping and not feeling strange about it is not how normal friends would be. In my opinion, it's a weird idea to show how patient Tifa is or how reluctant Cloud is to answer...

The romance is when Tifa tries to help Cloud because she knows what he's missing even though he doesn't realise it. Lovers are to knock some sense into each other, not to leave one another the fuck alone when he/she is having a trouble :monster: Seriously, you're making Cloud looks like a jerk...
