Current Twitter cope is “the dates confirmed to be outside the main story, but such and such date is obviously the intended route because of this frame shown in the ultimania and because of this reference to the date in the main story.”
Unfortunately there are people who have actually believed this to be the story of AC for nearly two decades now, and it doesn’t help that AC isn’t exactly the best display of quality storytelling
A “Clerith” ending would require Cloud picking Tifa over Aerith, which so far has never been an...
I have a five-tier ranking system for shippers:
Level 1 - Normal. Appreciates their ship but accepts the outcome of the story even their ship isn’t endgame.
Ex. “I prefer Aerith, but I accept what happens between Cloud and Tifa.”
Level 2 - Misinformed. Genuine, but believes common...
I think going into FF7 with the expectation that any ship needs to be “validated” is part of the problem with this fanbase. Most people have this attitude innocently because let’s face it, things weren’t always this well-defined. To an extent, I understand why some might feel that they’ve been...
But-But-But that’s because Cloud and Aerith are the intended couple! Obviously you’re playing the game wrong! Cloud x Tifa is out of character!

I mean I’m not even saying the song couldn’t have been exclusive to Aerith towards Cloud, I was honestly perfectly fine accepting that it was...
I mean, I’m happy about Nojima’s commentary on the song but the point I made earlier still stands:
Even if the song was exclusively about Aerith’s feelings for Cloud, what exactly would that prove about Cloud & Tifa?
Praise be unto our Lord and Savior Nojima-sama.
For the actual normal Cloud and Aerith shippers, no need to worry. The song is still just as much about Cloud as it is about everybody else Aerith loves.
For the weirdos who think everything in the story is about Cloud and Aerith and were so sure...
Like I’ve said before, I don’t think it’s a matter of Cloud and Aerith not being romantic at all because at the very least, they are presented with romantic undertones and they’re expected to be viewed in that light. But that romance has a lot of baggage that never quite gets resolved in a way...
Apparently:
- Cloud’s feelings for Tifa were “fleeting” based on a supposedly more accurate translation of a quote from a guidebook
- Aerith is the canon love interest and Tifa is just an option to throw a bone to the shippers
- Because Aerith is the canon love interest, any interaction...
It’s a shame but also not a surprise some of the more vocal shippers don’t come here because the pattern seems to be “set up a false premise to an audience that already agrees with you, then plug your ears at people pointing out that false premise.”
The position that I’ve consistently noticed...
To bring it back to the use of the word “canon”, I’m seeing people argue on Twitter that the Aerith “route” is more faithful to Cloud’s character arc because it supposedly has him more focused on Aerith while the Tifa “route” is more of a distraction from the so called “intended” romance of FF7...
Here’s my thing though. You could have definitive evidence regarding who Loveless is about, or who Hollow is about, or who NPTK is about. But so what? What does that actually prove?
You can present all the evidence in the world as to why something could have been, but how does that measure...
I think it’s less to do with Aerith not liking Cloud (because she obviously does like him), and more to do with her coming to terms with:
A. Unresolved feelings for Zack, who Cloud reminds her of
B. Wanting to meet the real Cloud but not gettting the chance to in her lifetime
C. Cloud’s...
