Genesis Return?

I was wondering if there are any Mega-ff7 heads out there that know the answer to this question. Because I'd like to depict an accurate return in my fan fiction story.

How will Genesis return? Can the answer's be found in the LOVELESS script? Any clarity would be nice.

Alas, the answer is pretty definitively "no." People have been speculating around in circles about this very question for ages now. Will he be a villain? If so, will he be well-intentioned and acting in the Planet's best interests (or his intepretation of them at least)? Will he be a more traditional hero or anti-hero, possibly still obstructive to our heroes due to conflicting methods or goals? Will he bring Weiss along with him or use his corpse in some way if he's died since then?

Nobody knows. SE probably doesn't know. Or care, in all likelihood. So, if you wanna fanfic it... hell, go wild :awesomonster:

Beyond what GLD said, it's not even clear at this time if there ever will be another entry in the Compilation. Given that Square Enix haven't announced anything related to the series in a long time, it's entirely possible that the ending of Dirge will stand as the chronological end of the Compilation's story, unfortunate as that would be.

:monster:

Also technically the chronological end of the Compilation is Nanaki howling over the ruins of Midgar nearly 500 years after Genesis woke up and shit :awesome:

Sorta awesome if you like Nanaki enough. Dude's got kids, looks to be making sure they know their history. And some random children are laughing, so possibly still some other folks around. Cloud is long dead of old age (unless something REALLY shark-jumping happened) so Sephiroth should have buggered off and stopped coming back to life/trying to fuck over the world, so that's nice. Whatever Genesis got up to, the world still exists and life still thrives. Could be worse, really.

Yeah, I guess it could be a lot worse now that you put it that way. Still, the fact that Midgar is in ruins implies something truly catastrophic happened too, which can't have been pretty.

Then again I'm in a state of mind where it's difficult for me to see the good side in most things, so don't mind me.

If they did anything with Genesis it will cause Square to lose even more respect from the fans. Genesis has Creator's Pet basically slapped on him and those kinds of characters are pretty much big time scrappies.

Ummm... someone dropped an entire plate onto the under-sectors and a couple of reactors got blown the fuck up just before that. Then Diamond WEAPON attacked, and shortly after the Lifestream came boiling up from under the place via mako reactor and fucked the place over pretty bad via gravity distortion and so on while fighting Meteor. Then oddly enough parts of the city mysteriously grew back or rebuilt themselves even as folks looted the city for scrap metal and other supplies to build Edge. Then Sephiroth and Cloud (and the Remnants as well) blew some shit up, cut some buildings into slivers, etc. Place was abandoned and pretty wrecked 500 years before that final shot of it we're discussing, so I don't think the overgrown jungle-ness of it is too bad an indicator when you think about it :awesome: After all, mako levels were supposedly too high to move back in and rebuild (thanks again Shinra) so it wouldn't have been getting any maintenence for 500 years even if all that damage and destruction hadn't happened :reapermon:

Then again I'm in a state of mind where it's difficult for me to see the good side in most things, so don't mind me.

I hear ya brother, been there. S'why you keep folks like us here at TLS around to help ya remember that there is a bright side, even if it doesn't glitter for you atm.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN
Lol.

As an avid Genesis hater I still want him to return*, only for the purpose of tying loose ends. Sucks but I'd take it-- I'd rather Square not abandon anything major within the canon (again). That would be too unforgivable.

And by return I mean getting his death mentioned by some random NPC
