I don't remember how Kyrie was in the novel, though honestly I find it hard to remember anything from The Kids Are Alright novel.
At least the remake now has me remember Kyrie as that game's Not!Yuffie. Her thieving and general demeanor was too close to Yuffie to be a coincidence, almost like she was part of the game's apology for not extending beyond Midgar.

The characters in F tier make my skin crawl, but arguably that’s why they should be higher (because they’re successful villains)
Overall, this is probably a not very controversial listing. I put Kyrie and the other Nomura FFVII Remake Deviant Art-tier OCs (...even though they’re all his characters, I know) at the bottom of C tier because they were definitely lame, but not that bad in retrospect. Though I was never particularly glad to see them...
The Wall Market leaders get a spot in B tier for how much they flesh that area out, and they’re all just a lot of fun.
But nothing can beat the OG characters, so they tend to rank higher. Zack didn’t do anything in Remake and arguably shouldn’t even be there, but I put him where he is because he’s Zack.
The Turks all get higher spots than the other villains. Sephy at his best in Remake is really good, but he isn’t always consistently on point - he has some lame moments mixed in as well. But he’s still good enough to deserve a better ranking.
Jessie gets a good ranking in spite of a horrific fan base. She is a really good character in Remake, and they gave her the most fleshed out backstory in AVALANCHE.
