This is something I made for a contest. I'm finding that playing around with transparencies is fun.

And there's also my new signature. The cool part about that was that I made it in Inkscape, so I can make it as big or small as I want without loosing quality. I took the background out for the Lifestream though, because the theme is dark enough for it not to need it.

I'm also now studying Graphic Design at a local community college (they have a certification for it) so I've finally figured out what I want to do for my job. :D

Fractal time! This time I went with trying to make a shape. Making fractals is really therapeutic in my Adobe InDesign class... You can find the full-size one over at my deviantArt account.

Part of the fun of being on vacation for the last weak was that I made a lot of fractals. Now my computer has to render them all and it takes approximately 8 hours for it to do one....

After this fractal, I have two more I have to render. Title: Frayed Network

I kinda wish I could link to a shrunk-down version of this, but deviantArt's images don't work like that.... :(

:rage: Okay, this one took my computer over 24 hours to render. Which is crazy because it usually takes my computer around 8 hours to render a fractal. Fortuetly I was gone almost all day yesterday and was able to get it done. Title: Crowned With Light

This is what I've been working on for the past week. It's Vol. 1 of a "cheat sheet" of about half of the "native" shapes I use to make fractals. In traditional art, they'd be kind of like different drawing/painting techniques. I usually end up combining more then three of them together to make a fractal.

Another fractal. This one was done for a challenge over on deviantArt where we had to use a variation called "spher". Title: Music of the Spher

One of the cool things about fractal art is that you can copy/paste parameters into the program. This leads to cool things like copy/pasting into/from chatrooms and the like. When one person pastes parameters somewhere and another person copies the parameters, tweaks then and pastes them back, it's called a pong. This can happen several times over.

This is the result of a pong I had with someone over on deviantArt. Title: The Firebird.

This one "uses" a repeating tiles pattern called Sphinx. In the process, I ended up memorizing that .5*sin(60o) = .433013 I've probably ended up memorizing more trigonometry while making fractals then when I took a class on the same subject. Title: Lost Pyramids

This one came about because I was playing with a variation that reminded me of tentacles... which reminded me of something from Homestuck.... yeah... and that gave me more ideas for Homestuck themed fractals...

School's started up again, which is actually a good thing for me artistically because I'll be playing with graphics for school, which tends to lead to me playing with my own art more...

Abstract made with just two shapes and a lot of playing around with transparency.

This one was done for a challenge to use a famous variation called JuliaN. This one was based on the verses that always come to my mind when I see detailed Juian fractals.

Ezekiel 1:16-18

"As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel. When they went, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went. And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all the four were full of eyes all around."

The second half of the native variations in Apophysis. These are more complex then the first set I did as the variations themselves have variables that affect the shape of the fractal. Most of these are used to make a lot of the more complex fractals and are often used to make gaps that are filled with even more fractals.

This one part of a well-known fractal family called Mobius Dragon, because it uses the mobius variation to make the pattern. The holes (and sides) are usually blank, but I filled them with a variation that looked like wires.

Fall themed fractal. Fractals are pretty good at making life-like leaf patterns if you know what you're doing. Most leaves themselves are fractals. Title: Fall Vine

"There he lay, a vast red-golden dragon, fast asleep; a thrumming cam from his jaws and nostrils, and wisps of smoke, but his fires were low in slumber. Beneath him, under all his limbs and his huge coiled tail, and about him on all sides stretching away across the unseen floors lay countless piles of precious things, gold wrought and unwrought, gems and jewels, and silver red-stained in the ruddy light."
